La Vitrine – Madagascar Project

The First Phase
Following a request from Delta Norway Madagascar Ltd, our distributor in Madagascar, AnyWay Solid Environmental Solutions Ltd. sent, in May 2007, experienced trainers from Israel to lead the process of teaching the skills of compressed stabilized earth block (CSEB) production. This activity was selected by the president of Madagascar to be demonstrated in his presidential La Vitrine, where the future technologies and techniques for the MAP are presented.		As part of the MAP (Madagascar Action Plan) – rehabilitation of prisoners includes training in block production and building trades for the construction of housing for teachers – sponsored by Delta Norway Madagascar Ltd.

During that month, the group constructed a brick yard and manufactured thousands of CSEB’s using only manually-powered machinery.Under the guidance of Delta Norway, two types of houses were built by local population using the CSEB produced on site.

The Next Phase The ministry of Justice of Madagascar has request funding to build three demonstration prison camps. The objective of the initiative is to test principles for desperately needed reform actions in different fields, one of which is facilitate reintegration of prisoners. An additional principle of the project includes the training of prisoners by experts to use local materials and new technology to build the camps and cultivate sufficient food for prison population in the region and facilitate their reintegration into society.AnyWay ‘s technology, which has recently been introduced in Madagascar, will be used to build the camps. It will enable the prison camp to be self sufficient when it comes to building material. The entire prison population will be instructed by experts that have been trained in Mahjanga and will hence be able to build houses.
